Sherlock was acquired by his present owners from a rescue centre in Berkshire and very little is known about him. He is described as a very gentle dog who is affectionate, obedient and quick to learn, but...
It became apparent very quickly that Sherlock suffers from separation anxiety and he can be quite destructive when left alone. His current owners are unable to be with him 24/7 so have very reluctantly decided that it would be in the best interests of Sherlock to seek a home where his separation anxiety can be addressed.
His current owner states that other than the separation anxiety, Sherlock cannot really be faulted. He is good on (and off) the lead and travels well in the car. He gets on well with other dogs, people and cats (currently lives with a cat). His recall is described as good and he knows ‘sit’ and ‘stay’. Continuation of his training will clearly be necessary but he is still a very young dog so the training possibilities are limitless.
Sherlock is docked, vaccinated and microchipped.
We are looking for a GWP-experienced home where Sherlock will not be left alone, possibly with other, older dogs.
All prospective homes will be checked for suitability and a secure, fenced garden is a non-negotiable requirement.
On re-homing we are inviting a donation to GWPC Rescue funds of £150 for Sherlock.
If you are interested in giving this beautiful young dog a loving home, and can handle the training that will be required to correct the separation anxiety, then contact GWPC Rescue Co-ordinator Ian Roberts on 01359 253565.
Sherlock is currently in Hertfordshire.
