'Archie' Young GWP *Now re-homed*

Dogs looking for new homes.

'Archie' Young GWP *Now re-homed*

Postby GWPRescue on Sat May 30, 2009 10:59 pm

This is Archie, a young (1 year?) GWP who was found as a stray and taken to the council pound from where he was retrieved by GWPC Rescue after seven days and taken into foster care.

Archie is described as a friendly, happy dog who would suit a quiet home without other dogs.

Archie will shortly be available for adoption. He is currently recovering from surgery to remove a retained testicle/castration during which he was x-rayed.

The unsteadiness which was previously noted was considered by the vet to have been caused by Archie being confined in a space too small for him to stand properly. Now he is on a proper diet and able to exercise freely, he is building muscle and improving daily and it is believed there will be no long term problems.

Interested parties will be invited to discuss Archie with his fosterer. Please contact UK Rescue Co-ordinator Ian Roberts on 01359 253565 to register your interest.

Archie is currently in the north-east.

Archie is now reserved. His prospective new family will be going to meet him in the next few days.

Unfortunately, Archie failed to get on with the resident GWP in the new home so most regretfully, he has been returned to foster-care whilst a new home is sought.

1200 views and no serious interest in Archie since the failed re-homing over a month ago!

Just to recap, Archie is a young, friendly GWP with no real vices. He does not have a high prey drive and he is not keen on running vast distances so he would make a fantastic pet for someone who does not want/need the more typical GWP working/hunting qualities.

Although he failed to get on with the resident GWP at the home he went to, this came as a great surprise to those who know him. In his foster-home he was living very happily with Bill, another fosteree and he got on well with his fosterer's own dogs. Provided introductions are carried out sensibly, there should be no reason why Archie should not live happily with other dogs.

If you would like to discuss Archie, please telephone (NOT email) Ian Roberts on 01359 253565.
